Persepolis // French-Persian Movie

Persepolis is a 2007 French  animated film based on Marjane Satrapi’s autobiographical graphical novel of the same name. The film was written and directed by Satrapi with Vincent Paronnaud. The story follows a young girl as she comes of age against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. The story ends with Marjane as a 24-year-old expatriate.

Emmanuel Kelly, an Australian originally from Iraq, is 17 years old even though he doesn’t actually know the exact date he was born. He was adopted in an orphanage having been found in the middle of war zone. His story is very moving and words cannot describe the hardship Emmanuel went through. With the full support of his mom, his brother, and friends, he put a brave face and front up to millions of Australian viewers in X-Factor 2011 Show to sing Beatles’ John Lennon song “Imagine.”

The La Tomatina festival, held each year on the last Wednesday of August – evolved from a street fight in the 1940s when a group of young men who wanted to participate in the “gigantes y cabezudos” parade used tomatoes from a vegetable stand as weapons.
